General Description
Coolant Refractometer – 1.100-1.3 sg
The coolant refractometer has a measurement range for ethylene glycol and propylene glycol of -50°C – 25°C, a range for cleaning fluids of -40°C – 10°C, and a range for battery fluids of 1.100 – 1.3 sg. It also has an adblue measurement range of 30-35%.
Function
The coolant refractometer is used to measure and control the concentration of coolant in various kinds of fluids in refractometry, which uses the refractive index. A small amount of a solution is inserted into the unit, and once the plastic cover is closed, an accurate reading of the coolant content is revealed by looking through the lens. The unit can be calibrated as needed using the adjustment screw.
Applications
The coolant refractometer is ideal for testing coolant concentrations in a variety of industrial refractometry applications, which utilize engine and battery-operated machinery, and for ensuring that fluids are neither too rich nor too lean in order to maximize efficiency.

Hello Craig, thank you for your question. According to the manufacturer, the unit is either low on battery or the test sample is too small. Please try to change out the batteries and/or add more of the test sample. I also have a copy of the owners manual that we can send you.
